People describe this object in a dozen ways: an old fashioned phone receiver for a cell phone, a landline handset that hooks up to a mobile, the curly-cord telephone you plug into an iPhone. They all mean the same thing, and this page explains how it hooks up, which plug to order, and what it feels like to use.
How it hooks up
The handset has the coiled cord attached. The other end of the cord is a plug that goes into the port you charge your phone with, or into the round headphone hole if your phone still has one. That is the whole installation. There is no box to buy, no Bluetooth to pair and nothing to charge; the phone powers the handset through the cord.
What happens when someone calls
The handset rings along with the phone. You press the round button on the inside of the handle and talk into the bottom cup, the way you did on the kitchen wall phone. Press the same button to hang up. The + VOL - rocker on the edge of the handset sets the volume, and your phone's own volume buttons work too.
Which plug to order
- iPhone 15, 16 or 17: the oval charging port. Order USB-C.
- iPhone 14, 13, 12, 11 or older: the flat charging port. Order Lightning. We put the adapter in the box.
- Samsung, Google Pixel, Motorola or another Android: order USB-C.
- Any phone with a round headphone hole: order the 3.5 mm jack.
If you are not sure, look at the charger cable you use every night, or email support@dialbop.com with the phone model and we will tell you.
What it feels like
Matte, solid and heavier than you expect for the price. Buyers keep using the words "not a toy". The person on the other end hears you with the warm tone of an old telephone, which is the charm rather than a fault. The cord is about 80 cm (31 inches) stretched: long enough to reach from the phone in your pocket to your ear, and no longer.
What it does not do
It is not louder than a normal phone call, so it will not fix a hearing problem. It is not wireless. We sell it for iPhone and Android phones and have not tested it with flip phones, tablets or laptops.
DialBop™ sells it in red, bubblegum pink and matte black, only at dialbop.com, with free tracked shipping and a 30-day guarantee. The handset is here, and the short answers to everything else are on the FAQ.
