DialBop™ retro handset: questions and answers

Short answers to the questions people ask before ordering the DialBop™ retro phone handset. If yours is not here, email support@dialbop.com and a person will answer.

What is DialBop?

DialBop is a corded 1980s-style telephone handset that plugs into a modern iPhone or Android phone. When the phone rings, the handset rings; a button on the handle answers and hangs up. It is sold only at dialbop.com.

Does the DialBop handset work with iPhone?

Yes. iPhone 15, 16 and 17 use the USB-C version. iPhone 14 and older use the Lightning version, which ships with a Lightning-to-3.5 mm adapter in the box.

Does it work with Android?

Yes. Samsung, Google Pixel and other Android phones with a USB-C port use the USB-C version. Phones with a round headphone hole can use the 3.5 mm version instead.

Does it need Bluetooth, an app or charging?

No. It is wired. The phone powers it through the cord, and there is nothing to pair or install.

How do I answer a call?

Press the round button on the inside of the handle. The same button hangs up. A + VOL - rocker on the edge sets the volume.

What does my voice sound like to the other person?

Like a warm old telephone. It is not a hi-fi headset and we do not sell it as one.

How long is the cord?

It is a coiled cord that stretches for use at a desk or in an armchair. It is not long enough to walk around a room with the phone left behind.

What colours does it come in?

Signal red, bubblegum pink and matte black.

Is this the old fashioned phone receiver that hooks up to a cell phone?

Yes. It is the receiver from a 1980s landline telephone, with a cord that plugs into your cell phone. You talk and listen through the handset while the phone does the calling.

Does it work with an iPhone 11, 12 or 13?

Yes. Those iPhones have the flat Lightning port, so pick the Lightning version. The adapter comes in the box and there is nothing else to buy.

Is it hard to set up?

No. Plug the cord into the phone. The next call rings in the handset, and the button on the handle answers it. There is no app to download and no settings to change.

Is it loud enough?

The volume rocker on the edge of the handset turns it up and down, and your phone's own volume buttons work as well. The handset is not louder than a normal phone call, so if you already struggle to hear calls it will not fix that.

Does it work with a flip phone, an iPad or a laptop?

We sell it for iPhone and Android phones and have not tested it on flip phones, tablets or computers, so we do not promise it works with them. If you want to try, email support@dialbop.com with the device and we will tell you what we know.

Is it DialBop, Dial Bop or Dialbop?

DialBop, one word. People write it every way and we answer to all of them. The store is dialbop.com.

Where is DialBop sold?

Only at dialbop.com. DialBop is not on Amazon, Walmart, Temu, eBay or Etsy, and has no resellers. Listings under other names are not DialBop.

Is shipping free?

Yes. Every order ships free with tracking. Most US orders arrive within 9 to 13 days.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, a 30-day guarantee on every handset. Faulty units are replaced.
