Retro phone handset for iPhone or Android: which plug?

iPhone 15, 16 or 17
Pick USB-C. These iPhones have the oval USB-C charging port, and the handset plugs straight into it. No adapter, no app, no Bluetooth.
iPhone 14 or older
Pick Lightning. These have the flat Lightning port. A plain USB-C-to-Lightning charging cable does not carry the call, so a USB-C handset would sit there doing nothing. We ship the 3.5 mm handset with a Lightning-to-3.5 mm adapter in the box, and it works as soon as you plug it in.
Samsung, Google Pixel or another Android phone
Pick USB-C. Nearly every Android phone made in the last few years charges through USB-C, and the handset uses that same port.
Any phone with a round headphone hole
Pick 3.5 mm headphone jack. Older Androids, some rugged phones and a few new ones still have it. If you can plug wired earphones into your phone, this is your option.
